On this day | Wright and Sinclair sink Newcastle

On this day | Wright and Sinclair sink Newcastle

A look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, presented by Heineken…

West Ham United achieved a superb 3-0 away win at Newcastle United to end a three-game winless run and move into the top ten of the Premier League table on this day in 1998.

The Magpies suffered a horror Halloween at St James’ Park when Stuart Pearce was sent off in the 47th minute before the Irons built on their lead with three second-half goals.

Ian Wright scored twice from either side from Trevor Sinclair’s strike as Harry Redknapp’s men cruised to a comfortable win after a goalless first half.

This victory started a run of four wins from five matches and we eventually finished fifth, qualifying for Europe.
