Solving today’s special Halloween solutions is fun. Here’s Spangram

New York Times response: Are you tired of the same old Wordle? The New York Times just released Strands, a new word puzzle that will test your vocabulary. Unlike Wordle, Strands challenges you to find six to eight words hidden in a jumbled grid of letters that share a theme. NYT’s user-friendly design makes playing effortless, but don’t be fooled – your brain will get a full workout.

NYT Strands: where to access

Edited by Tracey Bennett, the same Wordle curator, a new Strands game is available every day in the Games section of the NYT website.

NYT Strands: how to play

You start with a 6×8 grid of 54 letters. What you need to do is select a string of letters that you think makes up a word.

These words are not random, each of them is based on an everyday theme. This topic will be shown in a box called “Today’s Topic” on the left side of the screen.

Based on this topic, you need to learn six to eight words every day.

Now there is a fun element called Spangram. This is a hidden theme that is only revealed when you find all six words.

Why Spangram, you ask? Well, the word covers the entire grid. Add “span” to “anagram” and voila! You receive Spangram.
