Papillion man sentenced to less than a year for attacking former US senator in 2023

PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – A Papillion man has been charged with… attack on former US senator from Arizona on the Omaha Metro treadmill was sentenced Thursday morning to less than a year in prison.

Dominic Henton, 26, was sentenced to 360 days in jail, plus credit for the 89 days he had already spent behind bars on the assault charge. After serving his prison sentence, Henton must serve two years of probation, undergo sex offender treatment and register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Henton attacked Martha McSally in November 2023. The former U.S. senator from Arizona and combat pilot was in Omaha to speak.

He was arrested after Omaha police responded to a health call he made to dispatchers; And was subsequently charged one count of assault with intent to commit sexual assault, a misdemeanor.

Soon after the incident McSally posted the video on social media. said the man grabbed her in a “bear hug” and then pestered and fondled her until she fought him off. She said she threw a water bottle at him and chased him into the bushes where he hid before running away.

“I’m fine. I was in fight, flight or freeze and I decided to fight,” she said in an Instagram post.
