Former Third Day member Mac Powell shares the clear and “simple truth” about the gospel and God’s love on his new solo album. I love Jesus.

“With this record I wanted to return to the simplicity of what I do,” artist general on their social networks on October 25. “The gospel is a simple truth and I wanted to share it in simple songs that remind us of what God has done in our lives and remind us of the love of Jesus. I think this is some of my best work and songs, and I can’t wait to hear stories about how these songs impact your life! Turn it up loud!”

He spoke more about the album’s message in Crosswalk Headlines.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time. And over the years, as a creative person, you try to come up with new, clever ways to express your thoughts and represent our faith in a way that you try to package it in a way that people find acceptable and hopefully beautiful.” Powell said Crosswalk news headlines. “But at the same time, sometimes we get so caught up in trying to do these things and being creative that we lose the power of the simplicity of the message.”

“For me, it’s just getting back to it,” the singer continued. “What do I want to say from the beginning? And it’s “I love Jesus.” There is a wonderful scripture that says, “We love Him because He loved us first.”

And Powell’s mission as an artist? To help Christians grow in faith and love for God.

“IN John 10Jesus said, “I came into this world to give you life and to give it to you more abundantly.” And I think too often we as people of faith miss out on the ‘more’ because we are selfish and try to stick to our own dreams and our own goals,” he said. “And I did this for a long time.”

“And in doing so, you really lose sight of what real life is. And for me, as a believer, that’s who He is, and that’s what He offers to us. And so often, even in Christian music, people say, “Well, you’re just preaching to the choir.” Well, I was in the choir and I had to preach. And so I think it’s good to support each other,” he explained.

There is no time to waste when it comes to finding joy in Christ.

“Eternity does not begin when our bodies die. It starts right here, right now. And so I just don’t want people to miss out on it like I did for so long—the abundance of life and love and hope and all the great things that Jesus has in store for us,” he said.

The “simple” single from the album is “Good News”, which Powell speaks is a reminder of the “simple gospel” news that Jesus came and died for our sins.

Some of the texts read:

God is good and He sent His son

Gave his life for everyone

She rose again and rolled away the stone

This is not how the story ends

God still loves the world, my friends.
