Raider attack ‘doesn’t make sense’

Raider attack ‘doesn’t make sense’

The Las Vegas Raiders (2-6) have one of the worst offenses in the National Football League and lack personality, according to five NFL sources.

A lack of identity has plagued the Raiders this season, and there’s plenty to criticize.

The team seems to try to go off-script, but then fails.

Coach Antonio Pierce wants to run the football, no matter how the team has to do it by creating the run, passing the ball or just lining up and going.

They managed to defeat one of the worst defenses in the NFL (Los Angeles Rams) by gaining 122 yards on the ground on 29 attempts. Despite this success, the Raiders chose to throw the ball 44 times, completing only 21 attempts.

Antonio Pearce said this week: “I think you always have to go back to plays that work and there’s nothing wrong with repeating plays. You see it with other teams.”

Pierce is right 1005 times.

He added: “I’m not saying we don’t do it. It all comes down to execution, right? And there are a lot of things here, from defense to route running to timing the ball, it all comes into play. We need all 11 on one page.”

The offensive line was broken in 2024. This is a fact. It’s not Getsy’s fault.

Last week I asked OK Luke Getsy the following question and you can see his answer.

Hondo S. Carpenter Sr.: Antonio Pierce said he wanted to run the ball more and everything, but the only consistency on offense was inconsistency. I know it’s not your fault for the penalties, it’s not your fault for the execution, but as an offensive coordinator, it’s technically your fault. How do you fix this if you’ve already played seven games?

Coach Getsy: “It’s all ours, right? It’s a team effort and I really believe in that. And I think the inconsistencies are disappearing. I really believe it. I think every week it gets a little better and better. I think the mindset, the sense of purpose is becoming clearer every week and running the football alleviates a lot of those issues, whether you’re trying to spread it to others or we’re having trouble turning around. the ball is over, right? So it all comes into play and I think that’s part of it. And I think you just have to keep believing in what you’re doing. You stick to the plan. You continue to monitor this. you want all 11 players on the field to be on the same page at all times. And that’s really the answer.”

It is absolutely fair to make it clear that Getsy is not responsible for player executions, unforced penalties, or injuries. These facts deserve mention in any conversation.

But he is the offensive boss of the Raider Nation.

Here’s what five anonymous NFL sources tell us about the Raiders’ offense.

K.B.: “It doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve watched two games in their entirety and parts of others and can’t believe how they attack, but then it seems like they were shut down when it turned out they weren’t making any adjustments. The defense will adjust; then you will have to adapt to their changes. It’s just a game. I’m shocked by the lack of adjustments. This is the NFL. You’re sunk if you can’t adapt. Who cares if you can write the first 25 plays? If you can’t adapt, you’re sunk.”

Leader: “They run this committee? I don’t see much continuity. Pierce says what he wants and then they seem to make conflicting decisions. He has to drop the hammer and put them on the same page.”

Coach: “Watching this game yesterday… painful to say the least… you’re not doing a very good job as the organizing committee. Change trends and your game will lack creativity.” He ended with, “What is (Joe) Philbin contributing to this quagmire?”

Another executive: “I know what AP wants, but he’s not getting it. If they make adjustments, it’s almost as if they’re saying, “Okay, it worked, let’s not do it again.” They don’t pass when teams shut them down, so they keep running, but when they can, they pass. No rhyme or reason. I’m not in the building, but perhaps there are too many voices because they seem to have no continuity of thought. It’s not Luke’s fault when players take stupid penalties or get injured. This offensive line is broken.”

Another coach: “Joe Philbin is one of the smartest offensive minds in our league in the NFL. I look at this mess and tell you it needs a louder voice. This crime appears to have no clear purpose. Gardner Minshew has done a lot of good things in his career. Has anyone seen this movie and tried to make it happen? I would tailor my offense to his strengths, but you don’t see much change in them. Is this the same thing that happened to Brock Bowers at Georgia and Zamir White last year? Bowers has a lot of great players, but he can’t be allowed to disappear. You have to adapt to what the defense is doing. Did White forget how to run last season when he looked like a star? Of course not.

“My job as a coach was described to me many years ago. You are a cook. If I give you a bunch of vegetables, make a salad. Don’t try to make dessert. You can want to do a lot of things, but in this league, when you can’t beat a team with your scheme, you have to do what your players can. These offensive coaches have not done everything possible to ensure the success of this offense. “They’re not the most talented, but with a defense and talent like that, going 2-6 is inexplicable.”

One thing we do know is that the Raiders’ offense is ineffective, and with the bye week approaching, they better fix that as quickly as possible.

Antonio Pierce hired coaches to run this offense. If something goes wrong in Cincinnati, he’ll have to fix it somehow.
