NYT “Connections”, November 1: hints and answers for game No. 509

Connections was first launched in June 2023 and the word game soon became a big hit.

How to play Connections

Players have to find a common theme in a table of 16 words. There are four words in each of the four topics, but some words may belong to more than one group. For example, previous Connections In the puzzle, the words “serve,” “host,” “plan,” and “throw” were included in the “Help throw a party” category.

Each theme is divided into a color: yellow, blue, green and purple, each representing a different level of difficulty, starting with the easiest one, yellow. Players get four chances to make a mistake before losing the game. The puzzles are not always simple and use, among other things, a range of possible associations, from homophones and puns.

After selecting four words, click the “Submit” button. If your choice is correct, they will appear in the category color and disappear from the grid. However, if they are incorrect, they will remain gray and remain on the board.

If you get stuck, try clicking the Shuffle button to move the words to a different location in the grid. This could give you the upgrade you’ve been looking for.
