Hull residents have been asked to provide footage of a doorbell showing a dog getting offended

People are being asked to send the council any footage they have of the doorbell, which shows the dogs fouling.

Incidents “tend to increase” during the colder months and residents are now being urged to help catch irresponsible dog owners, according to Hull City Council.

The council said it was a criminal offense to allow a dog to attack any land and not remove it.

Anyone who fails to clear the air will be fined up to £50. If the case goes to court, they could face up to £2,500.

Councilor Charles Quinn said: “Dog abuse is an abhorrent scourge on our boroughs and we will not hesitate to issue fines to those who fail to comply.

“As night falls it can be tempting to let standards slip, but we have to remain diligent.

“If you witness anyone allowing dogs to congregate or taking video on their mobile phone, dash cam, video intercom or CCTV system, please notify us of those responsible immediately.”

The council’s law enforcement contractor, LA Support Limited, also regularly patrols hotspots across the city to prevent dog clusters and help identify criminals.
