OpenAI brings web search functionality to ChatGPT

ChapGPT now has a search function.

Users will be able to type something into a text field and click the little blue search button underneath it, or AI will automatically search the web if your question requires it. The service will also provide links to sources for the answers it provides, OpenAI, the company behind the service, said Thursday.

“By integrating search with a chat interface, users can interact with information in new ways, while content owners gain new opportunities to reach a wider audience,” the company said. “We hope to help users find publishers and websites while providing more search options.”

Currently, ChatGPT does not cite its responses and users cannot search the Internet directly from the platform.

OpenAI said it partners with news outlets and publishers such as Associated Press, Conde Nast And Atlantic, to get feedback on a feature.

The change is now available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as users on the SearchGPT waitlist. It will be available as it becomes available to remaining users.
