Two Florida teachers quit rather than implement new grading policies

Two Florida teachers quit rather than implement new grading policies

Big story: For years, educators in Florida and across the country have been talking about how to make student grades better reflect their academic performance.

They discussed ideas including net-zero policies and standards-based reporting. The pushback typically follows efforts to move away from the widely used A through F grading system.

The Bradford County School District, north of Gainesville, adopted a grading policy three years ago that includes a “conversion chart” that is supposed to explain how a student’s performance in a class compares to state expectations. The scheme was recently made compulsory in three district primary schools.

Two teachers chose to resign rather than implement a model they say inappropriately changes student grades. Find out more from WCJB.
