Woman held hostage by attempted murder suspect, Las Vegas police say | East Valley

Metropolitan Police Department SWAT officers and search and rescue medics rescued a woman who was reportedly held hostage by an attempted murder suspect in the eastern Las Vegas Valley, police said in a social media post.

On Wednesday, police responded to a hostage barricade situation in the 5500 block of Mountain Vista Street, according to Metro.

“The victim was reportedly held inside against her will by the suspect, who severely beat her and threatened to kill her several times last month, including by forcefully placing a firearm in her mouth,” Search and Rescue said in an Instagram post. .

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was wanted on a California warrant for attempted murder, Metro reported.

Police said the suspect was uncooperative, but they pursued “tactical options” that resulted in the suspect surrendering and being taken into custody.

“Seeing the high level of professionalism of the experts and their commitment to saving lives is wonderful,” police said.
