Former Bolivian President goes on hunger strike – World

BUENOS AIRES, November 2. /TASS/. Former Bolivian President Evo Morales asked his supporters to remove roadblocks but went on a hunger strike until the government agreed to negotiations.

“I have decided to ask the protesting comrades to consider taking a break from blocking roads to prevent bloodshed or economic problems,” he said at a press conference broadcast by Radio Kawsachun Coca on his Facebook page (banned in Russia due to the ownership of the company Meta “, recognized as extremist).

Morales added that he decided to go on a hunger strike “until the government begins a dialogue on two topics – economics and politics.”

Morales supporters have been blocking Bolivian roads for 19 days. On October 30, Bolivian President Luis Arce said that the damage from their actions exceeded $1.7 billion, and more than 60 police officers were injured during the clashes.

Arce supported Morales in the 2020 elections, but differences later arose between the two politicians.
