Goshen Fire Chief Honored with State Honor

Nov. 1—GOSHEN — Retiring Goshen Fire Chief Dan Sink received the Indiana EMS Director’s Award Thursday in recognition of his 43 years of service to the department.

Travis Clary, EMS manager for State Ambulance Districts 1 and 2, presented the award at Mayor Gina Leichty’s office on behalf of State EMS Director Craig Kinney of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

“Danny was recognized for his service as a firefighter and for promoting the ambulance service throughout Indiana,” the plaque reads. “(He) is a respected EMS provider and is making a difference in the state.”

Sink joined the Goshen Fire Department in 1981 and worked for the department as a Samaritan paramedic in Parkview from 1991 to 2010. He became chief in 2005 after serving as assistant chief and EMS chief.

“Chief Sink’s leadership and experience will be greatly missed,” said Mayor Leichty.

Last month, Sink was also named Indiana Fire Chief of the Year. He will retire Nov. 8, handing command over to Assistant Chief Anthony Powell.
