The digital land management initiative will significantly reduce the complexities associated with land ownership, disputes and associated litigation, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives AF Hasan Ariff said today (2 November).

“Thanks to technology, we will be able to obtain precise measurements, from the smallest details down to the millimeter. This will eliminate land-related unrest in the society,” the advisor told reporters while inspecting the digital land development project at Nabiganj ferry ghat in Narayanganj.

He said a large section of the community lacked a clear understanding of land development, leading to recurring grievances. “To address this issue, the government has launched a digital land records initiative aimed at making land records more accessible and transparent.”

Hassan Ariff further said: “In the past, obtaining land documents was a time-consuming and often unclear process. We can now access our land records online. Paying land taxes will also become easier.

“We have set up a call center where people from remote areas can report any complaints and appropriate action will be taken,” he added.

The advisor also mentioned that the total cost of this project is estimated at Tk 383 crore, which is expected to be completed by October 2026.
