Elon Musk’s 2024 election disinformation to support Trump X Factor

With Election Day just around the corner, there is one threat that deserves much more attention. Elon Muskability – as the owner of X – to distribute election disinformation and help Donald Trump. While Trump may be following the same pattern as in 2020, he didn’t have Musk to amplify his disinformation. And this alone should cause concern.

Three counties worth paying attention to

Here are three critical counties I’ll be watching closely on Tuesday.

Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania

In 2012 Barack Obama beat Lackawanna County, home of Scranton, by nearly 28 points; in 2016, Hillary Clinton the lead was reduced to less than 4 points. Joe Biden won the district by about 8 points in 2020, reflecting an increase in local support. But without Scranton Joe on the ticket, the question remains: Will the district’s predominantly blue-collar Irish Catholic voters lean Republican? If Trump gets close to Kamala Harris‘ numbers here, he’ll have reason to feel confident in Pennsylvania.

Fayette County, Georgia

Located near the reliably blue metro Atlanta area, Fayette is one of the best indicators of growing Democratic Party enthusiasm in Georgia. Obama received more than 33% of Fayette’s vote in 2012, Clinton received 38% in 2016 and Biden received nearly 46% in 2020. If Harris’ numbers are roughly in line with Biden’s, it will mean the Democratic turnout machine is running smoothly.

Wayne County, Michigan

Home to more than 140,000 Arab Americans, Wayne County has one of the largest concentrations of Middle Eastern and North African voters in the country. This may be one of the most important indicators of how third-party votes influence election results.
