Malaysian student found guilty of murder in UK for hiding newborn baby in suitcase

A Malaysian student has been convicted in the UK of killing her newborn baby.

Teo Jia Xin, 22, pleaded guilty after the child’s body was found in a cereal box and hidden in a suitcase.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Teo carried the baby to full term and gave birth on March 4.

She later placed the baby in a cereal box before placing him in a resealable plastic bag and stashing him in a suitcase, the BBC reported.

Prosecutors said the baby was still alive after birth and Teo knew the baby would die after being placed in the box.

West Midlands Police were called to Theo’s home two days after she visited hospital with signs of labour.
