Last year, the Washington Commanders posted the second-worst record in the NFL. This year, after hiring Dan Quinn and drafting Jaden Daniels, the Commanders are the second best team in the NFC. So it’s no surprise that this revamped front office is looking to capitalize on its momentum after a 6-2 start.

We now know what Washington’s timeline plans are, thanks to the latest commander trade rumors.

With the third-best scoring offense in the NFL, the Washington Commanders appear to be almost settled on that side of the ball. Their defense is surprisingly not far off, ranking 11th among the best units included in NFL Week 9 Schedule. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement.

Thanks to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, we now have a much clearer picture of Washington’s trade timing plans.

“It’s no wonder Washington’s red-hot commanders are scouring all over the place for an angle. Coach Dan Quinn knows this is a weakness in his lineup, and at 6-2, Washington needs help if they want to get past the Philadelphia Eagles and their superior group of receivers in the NFC East.

The Commanders rank 22nd in the NFL, allowing 6.3 yards per pass attempt. It’s actually worse than against the Run, where they rank 29th in the NFL, allowing 5.1 yards per attempt. However, Washington has had other injuries to seven offensive players, including Jonathan Allen, who is out for the season. However, rookie Jer’Jean Newton stepped in and played well despite his inexperience.

But outside of Mike Sainristil and the struggling Emmanuel Forbes, the Commanders don’t have many young defensemen with upside, so this rumor doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Additionally, the Commanders have previously been linked to a potential deal that reunites them with Kendall Fuller.

It’s possible that a deal for Fuller will happen, but there are plenty of other viable targets.
