How Texas’ star QB fits in with the Raiders

The 2024 Las Vegas Raiders are in a bad position.

At 2-6, Raider Nation is ready to give up the year and focus on the future. Coach Antonio Pierce’s team appears ready to hit the reset button on the current roster.

With several legacy contracts and no long-term plans at certain positions, the Raiders are in for an intriguing offseason. Although this season is not over yet, it appears the Raiders will have to work hard to turn things around.

If the Raiders begin a rebuild next offseason, finding the team’s quarterback should be the first priority. Whether it’s the 2025 NFL Draft or free agency, Las Vegas should rise to the most important position in football.

If they decide to look for a quarterback in the draft, they could select Texas star Quinn Evers. Now healthy after missing several games, Evers led the Longhorns to a 7-1 record and a chance at the SEC championship.

In 2024, Evers completed 69.1% of his passes for 1,389 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has grown up in several areas since moving to Texas from Ohio three years ago.

Evers has good size at 6-foot-3 and 206 pounds. He’s not the most mobile back, but he can be used on the goal line, as evidenced by his seven career rushing touchdowns but -27 career rushing yards.

Evers has the missile weapons and elite talent. He can sit back in the pocket and slice through defenses and touches on his throws with excellent accuracy. He ranks among the best throwers in the class behind Georgia’s Carson Beck and Colorado’s Sheader Sanders.

The Raiders would benefit from capturing Evers. It has become a better processor and has become much better at making decisions. Evers would form an elite connection with tight end Brock Bowers.

Texas has several elite weapons, so the Raiders could benefit from selecting Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond in the second round.

Evers still has some work to do as a prospect. Despite his improvement in this category, he still has difficulty making decisions. The Raiders had to contend with the losses of Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell; they also don’t need the Evers to fight.

Evers would provide a spark in the Raiders’ rushing attack. He can make powerful throws and push the ball down the field, something the team hasn’t done this season.

Raider Nation could be thrilled with a player like Evers paving the way.
