Hundreds of Santa Clauses will pass through Louth

Hundreds of people dressed as Santa are expected to parade through the streets of the Lincolnshire city in December.

The Santa Run for Life, which raises money for Cancer Research UK, will begin at Louth Market on Sunday 8 December at 11:00 GMT.

Holiday runners will complete a 2 km (1.25 mile) or 4 km (2.5 mile) fun run.

Louth Run for Life chairman Simon West said the event was aimed at having “a bit of fun and raising money for a really good cause”.

The event was organized by Louth Rotary and Louth Run for Life, who have raised more than £750,000 for cancer research in the UK through their annual event.

Mr West said: “These events are going from strength to strength and we now have huge support from the Louth community.

“We hope to bring as many Santas downtown as possible. There will be a sea of red all over Louth.”

The run will start and finish in Louth Market Square and the route will take you through the city center and around St James’ Church.

Mr West said the event would raise funds for an important cause.

“Cancer research is close to everyone’s heart. Every second of us will get sick, so this is important,” he said.

“We hope it will also be a great community event and bring some Christmas cheer to everyone. It will be quite a spectacle.”
