All blacks react to England’s hostile challenge with haka

All blacks react to England’s hostile challenge with haka

The All Blacks, in the form of captain Scott Barrett, delivered a classy response after England went against protocol to challenge the Hacks at Twickenham on Saturday.

BACKGROUND

The haka has been in the spotlight over the past few days after controversial England prop Joe Marler caused a furor and ongoing debate online when he called the All Blacks’ cultural war dance “ridiculous” and said it “needs to be scrapped.” “

With all that said, all eyes were on how England would respond to the challenge ahead of kick-off on Saturday, famously facing it in a V-formation ahead of their semi-final win over the All Blacks at the 2019 World Cup.

And England did not disappoint. Despite World Rugby banning any haka calls, England advanced to the All Blacks, who in turn further closed the gap between the two teams by going toe to toe with the hosts.

Fans also drowned out the All Blacks’ battle cries during the haka, chanting “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” during the performance.

COOL ALL BLACKS RESPOND TO ENGLISH HAKA’S DISRESPECT

After everything that happened before and during the Hack, the All Blacks beat England 24–22 in a dramatic game of the highest quality.

When New Zealand captain Scott Barrett was asked what he thought of England’s decision to go to the All Blacks during the Haka, he said it was a special moment that his team appreciated.

“I think the week has shown that there will be a lot of disagreement between the teams about the hack and we were expecting a big test before the whistle. It was great, you can certainly feel the atmosphere and it was a special moment,” Barrett said.
