Dundee 3 – 2 Kilmarnock

Dundee 3 – 2 Kilmarnock

Dundee pulled out a dramatic last-gasp win over Kilmarnock, scoring two goals at the Scot Fom Stadium.

Ayrshire scored twice through Bruce Anderson and Matty Kennedy, but the Dark Blues responded with goals from Seb Palmer-Houlden and substitute Jordan McGee before Ziyad Larkesh scored the winner in the fourth minute of added time.

The result lifted the Dark Blues to sixth place in the Premier League table, while Killie dropped to eighth.

Dundee made two changes to the team that lost 2-0 at Celtic Park last Wednesday, with Shaun Adewumi and Palmer-Houlden selected in place of Fin Robertson and Josh Mulligan, who were both on the bench.

Killie also made a double change to the side that defeated Hearts at Tynecastle in midweek, with Stuart Findlay and Anderson replacing Joe Wright and Marley Watkins.

The game started 15 minutes later than scheduled after Dundee’s Julien Vetro fell ill in the home dressing room and the Frenchman, selected on the bench, was left out of the matchday squad.

Killie broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with their first significant attack.

David Watson crossed from the left and defender Antonio Portales headed it home. Dundee goalkeeper John McCracken rose to collect himself but dropped the ball and Anderson fired into the empty net.

There was a lengthy stoppage when Findlay went down in his own penalty area and the defender had to be carried off the field on a stretcher and replaced by Wright.

Kilmarnock doubled their lead in the 40th minute. Danny Armstrong made a pass down the right flank with an inviting pass to fellow striker Kennedy who headed the ball into the bottom corner of McCracken’s goal.

However, Dundee pulled a goal back just a minute later when Adewumi sent a dangerous ball into the Killie penalty area and Palmer-Houlden headed it past Robbie McCrorie.

The hosts struck first after the break, equalizing in the 56th minute when McGee headed home Adewumi’s first-time cross.

Dundee came agonizingly close to scoring again in the 80th minute when Palmer-Holden flicked the ball into the path of Scott Tiffony, but the substitute’s low shot sailed inches wide of McCrory’s right post.

The goalkeeper then had to make a remarkable save to keep out Larkesh’s shot.

However, Dundee could not be denied and scored their dramatic final winning goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Mulligan set up Larkesh, who slotted the ball into the back of the net, sending the home fans wild.
