Constant updates: Donald Trump, Kamala Harris election news

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris appears during the cold open

Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on Saturday Night Live. makes a surprise stop during the show’s final episode before Election Day to give his fictional self some advice ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election. “You got it,” Harris told her “SNL” alter ego, Maya Rudolph.

The cold open began with a parody of CNN’s “The Source with Caitlan Collins,” which showed viewers a parody of Donald Trump, and then cut to behind-the-scenes footage of Harris’ fictitious rally in Philadelphia.

After Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff left the set, Rudolph walked over to the dressing room table and mused aloud, “I just, I wish I could talk to somebody who’s been in my shoes, you know, a black woman. South Asian running for president, preferably from the Bay Area.”

Harris sat across from Rudolph, who has played the vice president on “Saturday Night Live” several times this fall, and was wearing a similar outfit.

“You and I are both sisters,” the vice president replied.

“It’s good to see you Kamala and I’m just here to remind you that you got this because you can do what your opponent can’t do. You can open doors,” the vice president said through a mirror-like set.

At one point, Rudolph made fun of the Vice President’s laughter, to which the Vice President responded, “I don’t really laugh that much, do I?”

“A little,” replied Rudolph as Harris.

Harris’ appearance follows an outreach campaign in recent weeks aimed at reaching voters where they are, including friendlier interviews with Alex Cooper of “Call her dad” and radio host Charlemagne, God — as she remains in a close race with Trump two days before Election Day.

She later told reporters that the SNL appearance was “fun.”
