Former Illini Kerby Joseph hits a pick-six against Green Bay

With the Detroit Lions outscoring the Green Bay Packers 10-3 in Sunday afternoon’s game with less than a minute left before halftime, the visiting Lions were looking to make one more stop after holding the Packers to just first half. goal at Lambeau Field.

As has been the case all season for the NFC North Lions, cornerback Kerby Joseph was right on time.

On second-and-2 at the Packers’ 38, Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love was forced to drop back by a Detroit blitz. Eager to avoid a sack and hoping running back Josh Jacobs could turn a short completion into the downfield into a solid gain, Love took aim and fired, but never connected.

That’s because Joseph, the former Illini, was already in the backfield, breaking out of his safety spot to intercept and pull him in the other direction, untouched, for the score.

With the sixth pick of the season (yes, you see what we did there), Joseph is now tied for the NFL lead in interceptions.

In the match to determine the division lead, Joseph opened the game, increasing the Lions’ lead to 17–3, which they took advantage of at halftime.

Love started the game questionable with a groin injury and despite limping in the first half, he is expected to return to action in the second half.
