63% of Ukrainians are ready to endure the war as long as necessary, the survey showed

Almost two-thirds of Ukrainians said they were ready to endure the war as long as it took, a poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) showed on November 4.

Another 15% of respondents said they were ready to bear the burden of war for several more months, and 4% said they could bear it for six months. About 6% said they were willing to endure it for a year, while 12% found it difficult to answer.

According to vote, positions on this issue have remained largely stable since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022. However, there was a slight decrease in the number of people willing to endure the war as long as necessary – from 73% in December 2023 and February 2024 to 63% in October.

The number of those who advocated continuing the resistance only for a shorter period of time also increased. This trend was especially noticeable in the south and east, where the share of respondents who were ready to endure war for a year or more increased from 71% to 57% and from 73% to 48%, respectively.

The population of western and central Ukraine expressed high support and confidence in the resistance.

The survey was conducted from September 20 to October 3 using a representative sample of 989 people. Those who fled abroad or lived in territories occupied by Russia are excluded from it.

Ukraine finds itself in an increasingly difficult situation in the war. Russian troops are holding offensive in the east at a pace unseen in 2024, while the country preparing for renewed strikes power systems and possible power outages in winter.
