KCC warns consumers to beware of energy savings scams

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) warns consumers to beware of energy saving scams.

KCC received a report that a person claiming to work with KCC was calling utility customers and offering a 30% discount on their energy bills.

Based on the message received, the caller asks about eligibility for Medicare or Medicaid and then asks for a credit card to apply for a refund.

KCC says the person is not affiliated with them and the agency urges consumers to exercise caution if they receive a call like this.

KCC encourages people not to provide credit card information.

Additional information will be published as it becomes available.
