BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM) – A $6.7 million grant has been awarded to replace the Fraser Street Bridge, which spans the Kawkawlin River in Bay County.

Congressman Dan Kildee made the announcement on Monday, November 4th.

A $6.7 million grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Bay County Road Commission to replace the 65-year-old bridge.

“By investing in rebuilding our infrastructure, we are bringing federal resources home to rebuild Michigan’s roads and bridges. Fixing infrastructure means creating good-paying jobs and growing our local economy,” Kildee said.

The grant funding comes from the Bridge Investment Program, which was created by the bipartisan Infrastructure Act to obtain federal funding for bridge replacement to improve safety, efficiency and reliability.
