NFL explains why Tom Brady won’t be punished for criticizing referees in Week 9

Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt were invited to appear on FOX’s broadcast of the NFC North rivalry between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. Brady is prohibited from criticizing officials when commentating on games due to his stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. However, this did not stop him from finding fault with one key decision of the referees. on Sunday.

After Brian Branch was ejected from the game for an illegal hit to the head of a defenseless receiver, Brady quickly disagreed with the officials’ decision. This left many fans wondering if the 47-year-old man had broken the rules set for him with his comments.

On Monday, an NFL spokesman clarified the situation and made it clear that Brady will not be punished for his comments.

“Concern may arise if Tom makes harsh criticism of the refereeing or questions the integrity of the referee or the team. That did not happen in this case,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Ben Fisher. Sports and business magazine.

In other words, Brady’s criticism of the judges was not harsh enough to justify his punishment. It appears Brady will have to make “egregious” or integrity-challenging criticism of officials to justify any disciplinary action by the NFL.

In his first comments, Brady said, “I don’t like this call at all. I mean, obviously it’s a penalty, but in my opinion, in a game like this, it has to be a serious intent.”

Because Brady owns a minority stake in the Raiders, he is prohibited from visiting non-Raider facilities or attending production meetings, and is not allowed to criticize officials or teams on air.
