The Broncos’ strong season continues, with the win moving them to No. 12 in the AP rankings

Bronco fans had a lot to celebrate Friday night as Boise State pulled off a decisive 56-24 victory over San Diego State at Albertsons Stadium. The win moved the Broncos to a 7–1 record, keeping them undefeated in conference play and moving them up three spots to No. 12 in the AP rankings, their highest ranking since 2011.

Boise State wasted no time in establishing control. Quarterback Maddux Madsen connected with receiver Latrell Caples for three touchdowns in the first half alone, helping the Broncos build a 35-10 lead at halftime. Head coach Spencer Danielson praised Caples’ leadership both on and off the field, saying, “Latrell Caples, 3 touchdowns, one of the biggest leaders on our team, not even just in receiver or on offense, but on our entire team.” .

Madsen’s performance drew similar praise from Danielson: “Maddox played great today. I mean, what he did with the football, without interceptions, how he could get first downs, create conflicts, make the throws he needed to stay in the game. I’m very proud of Maddux and that’s who he is.”

The Broncos’ defense also performed well, intercepting San Diego State twice. The return of pick six A’Marion McCoy for a touchdown was the highlight, setting the tone that kept San Diego State in disarray. “Right now, when you go against our defense, good luck,” Danielson said. “Our guys are relentless in the way they play the run or pass.”

Running back Ashton Ginty, considered a top Heisman candidate, started slowly but found his rhythm in the second half, rushing for 149 yards and scoring twice. It was Jeanty’s eighth straight game in which he rushed for more than 100 yards. “Ashton Jeanty is the best football player in the country,” Danielson said. “Every week they’re a really damn good football team, I’m learning more and more how strong this team is, how tough this team is, how much this team loves each other and we have a really good football team.”

Boise State remains undefeated at home this season and is eyeing a possible College Football Playoff berth. The Broncos are proving to be one to watch late in the season, but Danielson stressed the need to continue to focus as each week presents new challenges.
