Nora Fatehi compares Bollywood to a school party; says: “If you don’t prove yourself…”: Bollywood News

Known for her dancing talent and acting skills, Nora Fatehi is known for her outspoken personality. She recently shared her experience in Bollywood, calling the industry similar to a school company. However, she noted that her past experiences helped her navigate this environment more easily. She also noted that foreign actors who struggle in the industry often do so because they do not study Hindi or other local languages.

In a candid interview with film critic and journalist Rajeev Masand during the 15th Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, the actress shared her experiences in the Hindi film industry and discussed the challenges she faced along the way.

Nora Fatehi, who was born and raised in Canada and spent several years in Saudi Arabia, recalled her school experiences in those countries, where she encountered students who formed exclusive cliques that resisted newcomers.

Based on her understanding of these dynamics, she finds Bollywood similar and feels that by entering the industry, she has revisited that medium. However, she used this experience to navigate the world of film.

She said: “It (Bollywood) is a little worse than high school as most of these cliques grew up together from day one. But once you’ve done it once, it feels like you can do it again. Since you are an outsider, if you don’t prove yourself or learn Hindi, assimilate and prove to them that ‘Hey, I can be like you guys’, there is no way out.”

Madgaon Express The actress explained that she does not blame Bollywood, viewing it as a company whose success requires knowledge and experience. While her fellow models were out clubbing, she focused on studying the industry and creating charts to analyze it.

Thanks to her research, Bharat The actress realized that newcomers who struggle to maintain their success often disappear after about a year. She stated, “It was then that I realized one thing: if a foreigner comes to Bollywood and fails to get in, then most of the time it is because he did not learn the language (Hindi) or did not assimilate.”

Nora explained that some foreign actors try to emphasize their identity as American or Canadian, wanting others to recognize it. However, their language skills and accent often reveal their outsider status, which may contribute to their lack of success in the industry.
