Online co-op game Binding of Isaac is almost ready because the roguelike is so cheap

The Binding of Isaac Revival ten years. Since its launch, some of my other favorite roguelikes have gotten my full attention, but it’s time for the king to return. I’ve played Slay the Spire, Hades, Dead Cells, Dicey Dungeons, and Balatro to my heart’s content, but everyone’s favorite tear-jerker is about to return. The long-awaited update for the online co-op game Isaac is finally almost ready, but in the meantime, you can purchase the roguelike at a big discount.

best bagels I owe a lot The Binding of Isaac. The Top-Down Dungeon wasn’t the first game to borrow from 1980s Rogue, but its popularity and success undoubtedly influenced the genre. I don’t think we would have roguelikes in the form we have today if it weren’t for Isaac, and the game’s overwhelming reception is proof of that. The Binding of Isaac Rebirth currently has a positive rating of 97% on Steam based on a staggering 274,000 reviews. Few other games in this genre can boast even close to these numbers.

To this end, I will take advantage of any excuse to return to Isaac’s escape from the clutches of his mother. I’m surprised to hear that an update to the online co-op game The Binding of Isaac is almost ready. We won’t have to wait long for a free patch and it will be a game changer.

“Isaac Online will feature a full online co-op mode (with completion markers), as well as a significant balance update that focuses on buffing the items you guys think are lackluster/bad,” says co-creator Edmund McMillen.

McMillen also confirms that the game’s online co-op will support two to four players, and co-developer Nicalis adds that we’ll be getting “Isaac-related announcements” throughout November to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary.

The full launch of Isaac’s online co-op mode will take place after the alpha test was canceled earlier this year. The Binding of Isaac executive producer Tyrone Rodriguez said the game is “being shut down until further notice due to someone collecting data on the game and ruining it for everyone else.” The hacker bypassed the alpha to play other modes and shared this information with the players. Rodriguez added that “the team needs our tests to actually be tests,” so they decided to remove the alpha version.

Now that long wait is finally almost over, as we almost have fully functional online co-op for one of the best roguelikes ever made.

The free online co-op mode The Binding of Isaac will launch on Monday, November 18th. The roguelike will also be on sale until Monday 11 November, so new players can expect to pay $7.49/£5.49 for the Rebirth version of the game until then. You can find the game on Steam right here.
