Indian alliance unveils ambitious Jharkhand manifesto: promises 10,000 jobs and greater social justice

The Indian National Inclusive Development Alliance (INDIA) on Tuesday unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, laying out an ambitious set of commitments aimed at improving the lives of the people of the state. Key among these promises are the creation of 1 million jobs for youth and provision of health insurance worth up to Rs 15 lakh for low-income families.

The ruling alliance in Jharkhand has introduced seven major guarantees, which include increasing reservation quotas for various communities: reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) will increase from 26% to 28%, Scheduled Castes (SC) from 10% to 12% and Other Reverse Classes (OBCs). ) from 14% to 27%, as reported by PTI.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that whenever guarantees are discussed, the Prime Minister tends to reject them. “Prime Minister Modi has often questioned the credibility of the Congress’ promises, but we have consistently delivered on our commitments,” he said, contrasting the Congress’s accountability with the BJP’s unfulfilled assurances.

The manifesto also commits to increase free monthly ration for the poor from 5 kg to 7 kg and provide LPG cylinders to Jharkhand at a subsidized rate of ₹450.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized the importance of these promises, saying: “The new government after the elections will honor the assurances we have given today.”

Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with the counting of votes to take place on November 23.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its own manifesto over the weekend. Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Jharkhand, clarifying that tribal communities will be exempted from the legislation. The BJP also promised to return lands occupied by infiltrators to tribal communities.

Shah highlighted several initiatives, including the Gogo Didi scheme, which promises to provide women with £2,100 a month. He also announced that free LPG cylinders will be distributed on occasions like Diwali and Raksha Bandhan and additional cylinders will cost ₹500. Moreover, the BJP aims to create 500,000 jobs for the youth of Jharkhand.

This competitive political landscape in Jharkhand sets the stage for a crucial election in which both major parties present opposing views on the future of the state.
