Rachael Ray and John Cusimano ‘weirdly’ balance each other out

Rachael Ray and her husband John Cusimano are different people – and that’s why they complement each other so well.

In the third episode of his new podcast: I’ll sleep when I’m dead Ray, 56, opened up about their marriage during a conversation with a guest. Jacques Pepin O his late wife Gloria. Ray told Pepin, 88, that they “brought something to each other” just as Cusimano does to her.

“You know, (John) is a lawyer and a musician,” Ray said. “I’m not a musician. I’m certainly not a lawyer. I hate reading legal documents and official information, but we balance each other out in a strange way. We allow each other to be open to different worlds.”

“I also think it’s great to be able to express yourself truthfully,” Ray added.

Ray and Cusimano married in Italy in 2005. Ten years later, they renewed their vows. the same Tuscan castle where they first got married.

She also noted in the podcast episode that Cusimano has played an “important role” in her success over the years.

“I love my husband John, and John works with me and built our business and our brand together, but we agreed on the concept of serving the community, serving the world, serving animals and serving children,” she said.

“It was very important for me to marry him because I thought this man could be a true partner in what I believe in, helping people and building not a business but a community,” she continued.

Pepin shared similar feelings about his beloved wife, who died in 2020. (They married in 1966 and had a daughter, Claudine, soon after.)

“I wouldn’t be who I am without Gloria,” said the famous French chef. “I mean, she changed my life. She cared about things I didn’t care about.”

“I can’t actually sign a check or find out what we have… in the bank or anything like that, or what these bills are for,” he continued. “I’m completely confused, she took care of it. I never cared about it. So she gave me the opportunity to do what I did and always supported me, whether I was writing a book, taking a class, going on a cruise, or she was always there for me.”

Rae has spoken candidly about what makes her own marriage work in previous episodes of her podcast, which she launched in October.

“I’m crazy, crazy, crazy lucky to have my husband,” Ray said of Cusimano. in the second episode, featuring Billy Crudup. “But he understands that I need my personal space. He needs his space.”

Ray also general an unconventional way to resolve disputes with Cusimano.

“It’s very difficult, especially for short-tempered, creative or loud, loud people, to just calm down,” she told a guest. Jenny Mollen. “John and I never get complacent. We have a lot of shouting going on all the time, but I think it’s healthy. I really think so. And I don’t trust people who are too quiet.”

“It pisses me off that it’s too quiet,” Ray admitted. “I’d rather you tell me what you think when you think it, and let’s just get it all out there.”
