Shocking Willie Adams Landing Spot Would Be Worst-Case Scenario for Braves

New York Mets We have a decisive off-season ahead of us. A few years ago, they went out and spent money like crazy, landing several top free agents in hopes of buying their way to a World Series championship.

Unfortunately, this plan backfired on them. They weren’t nearly as good as their roster should have been and they had to sell a lot of contracts that they just went out and bought. For the first time since that offseason, the Mets are in a great position to spend a ton of money and buy their way to the World Series, especially after falling just short of the National League pennant this season.

So, with free agency officially opening, the Mets have become linked to every star under the sun. From Juan Soto to Corbin Burns, if there is a player who can help a team win games, the Mets want him.

MLB insider Mike Ferrin recently appeared on MLB Network Radio where he made a pretty intriguing connection to the Mets, linking them to free agent infielder Willie Adams.

If you signed Willie Adams to play second base, it would really improve the middle of their diamond,” Ferrin said.

Adames and Metz are a connection that no one has really made. Adames is a player, and the Mets have one of the best players in the game. But Adams is flexible enough to play second base if the Mets go that route.

Adames, 29, played 860 career games at shortstop and 10 career games at second base. He hasn’t played second base since his rookie year in 2018, but that doesn’t change the fact that he could end up there in New York.

The only problem now will be paying him as a shortstop to play second base. The Mets’ front office will have to decide if they can commit more than $150 million to a second baseman when there are other players to spend that money on.

Another team that has long been associated with Adames is Atlanta Braves. If Adames goes to the Mets, it would be a worst-case scenario for Atlanta because they would lose their star while watching him sign with their division.
