“There’s got to be more to this than four more years of the hell we’re living in” – Country fans react to Sugarland’s participation in Kamala Harris’ rally

“There’s got to be more to this than four more years of the hell we’re living in” – Country fans react to Sugarland’s participation in Kamala Harris’ rally

Country music support for Kamala Harris on the night before Election Day.

Of course, today is expected to be a tight race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, and we will (hopefully) find out who will be the next President of the United States sometime late tonight.

Both candidates held several rallies yesterday, with Vice President Harris spending her time in the swing state of Pennsylvania.

But there were other rallies in her honor across the country, including one in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the music venue The Ritz, where James Taylor, Sugarland and Remy Wolfe performed. North Carolina will likely elect Trump again, as it did in the last two elections he ran, although it is expected to be close.

Country music duo Sugarland achieved great success in the genre in the early 2000s with hits like “Stay” and “Stuck Like Glue,” as well as “Something More,” which they sang at a rally.

Many fans found it particularly ironic and intense and reported this in the comments where they shared the video on Instagram. Others were surprised to learn that Sugarland was supporting Harris for president, although Jennifer Nettles in particular has been vocal about being a Democrat in the past, so I guess some of them just weren’t paying attention? I don’t know…

Many people also left comments saying they were “disappointed” to learn that both members of Sugarland are liberals, although I’ve always tried to separate music from politics when it comes to who my favorite musicians support. You have the right to continue listening to someone you don’t agree with or disagree with, and it looks like a lot of fans were surprised by this and may be looking for a new favorite band:

“Yes, there must be something more than 4 more years of hell that we live in. They are absolutely right!

“Kamala needs to do more than just hire celebrities, damn what a crap campaign she ran. Historically bad. It would be better if it was worse than Biden hiding in the basement. Every interview she did, she lost ground in the polls.”

“The perfect song for Harris as she prepares to leave!”

“Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump! It’s time for positive change!”

“Did they take their audience into account…. As in general…who do you think the middle class, hardworking rural Americans vote for…. Trump 2024.”

“Something more than a cam cam…bye.”

“We’ll have to agree to disagree. Working-class Americans are too busy trying to make ends meet to care who rich celebrities vote for.”

“Damn… WHY?? You just told half the country that we don’t matter if we get involved in politics. Such a disappointment.”

“So desperate… we still win #trump2024”

“No…vote Trump!! MAHA!!

“Wow! Upset.”

“Suddenly I don’t like them anymore…”

“Jennifer has been a liberal FOREVER!! Do I agree? Not in the slightest. But I’m not so simple-minded as to ignore it. Still love her!!

“Uh…disappointing.”

“What a HUGE disappointment. Have they gone crazy???”

“Well, I used to like Sugarland. Singing for Kamala is like Sugarland showing the middle finger to all their fans and the country. Shame on you, Sugarland. Why couldn’t you find an ethical salary?”

“So disappointed in this… I really liked Sugarland… not anymore.”

“Disappointed to hear this…Trump 47. Let’s go!”

Of course, many others are showing their support for Sugarland coming to the Harris Rally and were happy to see them do so:

“Hell, anyone who’s surprised by this hasn’t been paying attention for the last 20 years. It was always clear where Sugarland was politically.”

“I attended the Sugarland/Little Big Town show in Buffalo this weekend. Seeing this makes me even more happy about my support.”

“For all you guys who are disappointed, get ready to really clutch your pearls when you learn this little fact: they actually played at the Atlanta Pride Festival a few times and have always been bleeding heart liberals ::sigh::”

“We’re going to get bigger. I love you and thank you, Sugarland!”

“I loved you before….now I love you even more!!!!”

“Part of the problem in this country is that people don’t pay attention. Do you really think a country singer covering Patty Griffin’s TONY would actually be a Trump supporter?!? You obviously weren’t a fan anyway, so yeah. Go away. Sugarland rules.”

I guess I should leave this here too… but I have to admit, the fact that they chose “Something More” is kind of funny, especially considering Harris is part of the current White House administration.

“Something More”
