(ABC 6 News) – The search for a missing news anchor in Iowa has spread to south-central Minnesota.

According to the site Find JodiInvestigators from Mason City, Iowa, recently searched an area in Winsted, Minnesota, about an hour west of Minneapolis, following a tip.

Chief Jeff Brinkley of the Mason City Police Department confirmed the news in a statement, saying:

“MCPD recently worked with Minnesota law enforcement officials to investigate Winstead. MCPD continues to regularly receive, evaluate and monitor information related to the disappearance of Jodie Huysentruit. Information obtained from these efforts will be used in the ongoing investigation. There is no additional information to be released publicly at this time. We want to encourage anyone with information regarding Jodi’s disappearance to contact MCPD or the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.”

Jodi Huisentruit disappeared on June 27, 1995, while on her way to work in the morning. Based on evidence collected at the scene, police concluded that Wiesentruit had been kidnapped. She hasn’t been seen since.

Caroline Lowe of findjodi.com said the move is “the first active movement we’ve seen on this case in a while.”

“So this intrigues us,” she said, “… and we don’t know what to do with it. For almost 30 years we have gone through many searches. For her family, it’s year after year of not knowing.”

Earlier this year on the 29th anniversary of her disappearancefriends, family and activists gathered in Mason City to honor her memory. During the event, Patty Wetterling, whose son was kidnapped in 1989, spoke and a statement from Huizentruit’s family was read.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 30 years since we last had a chance to talk, hug or laugh with our dear sister, aunt and friend. When this first happened, none of us could have imagined that we would still be here, waiting for answers and justice in her case,” she said.
