The bills do not make any changes as the NFL trade deadline expires in 2024.

The Buffalo Bills decided to sit on the sidelines as the 2024 NFL trade deadline passed, making no moves before the NFL shutdown at 4 p.m.

General manager Brandon Beane’s decision to take no action is not surprising, despite his has repeatedly stated its readiness to make additional transactions; Buffalo currently has less than $3 million in salary cap space, and so he wasn’t necessarily in a position to get even a moderate contract from another team. It’s also not like the Bills neglected to make any moves during the season, as they acquired five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns in mid-October; The 10-year veteran has five receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown in two games for Buffalo so far.

Connected: Report: Two former Bills holding positions should be vacated by their respective teams

The Bills could also add internal reinforcements as the season progresses, most notably in former All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano. who the team hopes to return from an offseason biceps tear at some point this year. Rookie defensive end DeWayne Carter will also likely return this seasonwhich, again, should ultimately strengthen Buffalo’s defense.

While it may have been a little disappointing given the hype that day, the Bills didn’t necessarily need to take another step; They’re 7-2 and currently in second place in the AFC—they can clearly win with their current roster. There is also expected to be a small stream of post-trade releases as clubs have been unable to move players into the block; Buffalo could add players from this pool, as none are expected to demand significant contracts for the final half of the season.
