Pat Curry will replace Doc Anderson after declaring victory in the State House District 56 race.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Republican Pat Curry is set to replace Doc Anderson after declaring victory in the 56th Texas House District seat over Democrat Erin Shank while holding a 2-1 lead in the polls.

Curry received 68.1% of the vote and Shank received 31.9% for 66.3% of the total votes counted.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott endorsed Curry ahead of the Republican primary, in which he defeated Devvy Duke.

Curry announced he would enter the race a day before Anderson announced his retirement from the position he held for nearly 20 years.
