By November and December, the air in many cities, including Delhi (NCR), begins to change. In winter, for many reasons, the air becomes polluted, which begins to harm our body in different ways. Along with this, increasing air pollution makes us vulnerable to many diseases and has a profound impact on our physical and mental health.

According to the latest data from the Air Quality and Weather Forecasting System, an organization of the Government of India that provides information on air quality, the AQI level in Delhi-NCR is rising every day. These days, the ICI in Delhi NCR has reached 350, which is very harmful to human health. Air quality affects our health, including our lungs, skin, brain and eyes. And if you suffer from eye problems due to pollution, follow these preventative eye care tips:

1. Staying hydrated will benefit your eyes.

Staying hydrated before or during exposure to polluted air is important not only for your eyes, but also for your overall health. Staying hydrated is very important for tear production as it helps ensure there are enough tears. This ensures that enough tears are produced to wash away pollutants entering the eyes and the irritation they cause, thereby reducing the risk of eye irritation, dryness and redness due to air pollution.

2. Wear glasses with UV protection.

Wearing glasses with UV protection can also help combat eye problems caused by exposure to poor air quality. Air pollution often contains dust, eye allergens and very small particles that can irritate the eyes. Safety glasses help reduce the irritation and discomfort caused by these irritants, thereby providing relief to the eyes.

3 Use eye drops

Lubricating eye drops help reduce dryness, irritation and discomfort caused by air pollution. Using preservative-free eye drops specifically formulated for dry eyes may provide some relief.

4 Rinse your eyes with cold water from time to time.

After exposure to polluted air, you should rinse your eyes with water repeatedly, and if any harmful particles remain in your eyes or eyelids, they will be removed and your eyes will remain healthy.

5 Use an air purifier

Using an air purifier in your home helps reduce indoor air pollution, creating a cleaner environment that benefits your overall health, including eye health.
