We are rested and ready for the challenge – Hearts

Neil Critchley says his players feel refreshed after intense matches but will need to be good in all aspects of the game if they are to take all three points against Heidenheim on Thursday night.

The Jambos welcome the German side to Tynecastle Park for round three of the UEFA Conference League. Both teams score a maximum of 6 points in the first two matches.

The men in maroon head into the match having picked up a precious three points away to St Johnstone and the head coach admits everyone is looking forward to the challenge.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Critchley said:

“We’ve had a couple of days since the St Johnstone game. It was a busy period of games for us. We had a rest. We are clear about what we need to do and we are looking forward to a good game. It’s a big challenge, but from home we’re looking forward to it.

“When you come up against certain teams from certain parts of Europe or the football world, it does create a little more anticipation for the type of game you might be playing.

“We know we have a big test ahead of us, but if we can play the game we want to play then we know it will be a really good game and we will be a really good opponent for them.

“If you want to win at this level of football. You have to be good on the ball and good off the ball, that’s all. You have to be good at all aspects of the game or you will lose.”

On Jumbo’s positive start to the competition league, Critchley added:

“We’ve got off to a good start so we need to capitalize on it. We are at home so this is an opportunity for us to take another step forward and try to get three points. If we do this, we will be in a truly positive position. I look no further than Heidenheim because we know what a difficult task lies ahead of us.

“We want it to be a hostile, intimidating environment where no one wants to come and play. “Tiny will be furious on Thursday night and I hope it will be a bad experience for our opponents.”
