Don McLaughlin defeated Texas House District 80

SAN ANTONIO – Don McLaughlin has declared victory, becoming the first Republican to represent House District 80 in more than 20 years.

Former Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin Jr. (R-TX) will face off against Cecilia Castellano (D-TX) after current Representative Tracy King decided not to seek re-election.

“This victory belongs to the people of South Texas,” McLaughlin said. “I am honored and humbled to be your voice in Austin. I am committed to working tirelessly to make our communities safer, our economy stronger, and our future brighter. Thank you for trusting me to represent you and the values ​​of our community.”

At last count, Don McLaughlin (R) is leading with 63% of the vote, with 66% reporting. The Associated Press has not confirmed the race.
