DB3 announces Friday fights during official press conference

NORFOLK, Va. (WTKR) – Keyshawn Davis and Gustavo Lemos will step into the ring on Friday night. The two got into a verbal altercation on stage Wednesday afternoon.

The two made the remarks during a formal press conference at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside ahead of Friday’s fights at the Scope Arena.

“I like to talk,” Davis smiled. “I never disrespect my opponent, I always show respect, but I encourage him and have a little fun. We’re going there to fight so we can (trash) talk a little.”

Davis and Lemos appeared on stage along with Troy Isley and Tyler Howard, who will meet at the joint event. Despite some funny verbal barbs, the Norfolk native praised Lemos, especially for agreeing to fight in Davis’ hometown.

“Hey Gustavo, man,” Davis said during the press conference. “A lot of people aren’t going to come to someone’s hometown to fight, so he’s up for the challenge. “I think he’s the perfect guy for this moment, so it’s definitely going to be a great fight on Friday night.”

Keyshawn (11-0, 7 KOs) and Lemos will finish the night in the main event, but Norfolk is already aware of the significance of Friday’s festivities. Calvin Davis (13-0, 7 KOs) will face Yase Solano in an eight-round welterweight bout, while Keon Davis, the younger brother, will make his pro debut against Jalen Moore. It’s a moment that boxing siblings don’t take for granted, especially the opportunity to be at the same tournament in their hometown.

“Every single day, from the press drills and the press conferences, I feel like people enjoyed it as much as I did,” Keyshawn said. “I’m just trying to enjoy every moment as I live them.”

“It’s no different than working out at the gym,” Kevin added. “When we’re in the gym, we work out together. When my brothers spar, I give them some feedback and they give me some feedback when I spar. It’s no different in combat. this has been going on for a very long time and there is nothing new about it for us. It’s natural.”

“It means a lot,” Keon said. “In reality, this never happens, especially on this platform. It’s definitely different and we’re definitely going to perform, all three of us.”

The event was highly anticipated even before it was announced and now Norfolk fight week is here. The Davises have spent a week at home after an eight-week training camp in Las Vegas and are feeling the Mermaid City love, a love that will follow them into the Scope on Friday night.

“The 757 has been very supportive of us since our first press conference in September,” Keyshawn said. “They sold out of pre-sale tickets, we sold over 10,000 tickets. It means a lot, man. All of Virginia supports us. Just keep supporting us because it’s just the first time.”

“The support has been amazing,” Kelvin added. “Just to see everyone show up and show up, at any event we have, everyone comes and packs up.”

Keon Davis agrees.

“The media day was great,” he said. “Many people came, came, supported us. The city definitely loves us and we love them too.”

A total of eight fights are scheduled for Friday evening, with action starting at 6:20 p.m. Top Rank estimates Keon Davis will enter the ring around 7:30 p.m., Kelvin around 8:30 p.m., and Keyshawn between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
