Second special episode of Gundam Seed FREEDOM opens at #6 – News

Second special edition Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM finished 6th on opening weekend. From Friday to Sunday, the film earned 76,383,100 yen (about US$494,500). Counting the earlier first cut of the film as well as the first special edition, this is the film’s 41st week at the box office in Japan. In total, the film earned 5,222,894,120 yen (approx. US$33.80 million).

The first special edition of the film, with an added epilogue (or outtakes), was broadcast from September 20 to October 3. This second special edition, with another epilogue (or excerpts) added, will run from November 1st to 14th. .

Director Mitsuo Fukuda explained that due to time constraints, the staff were unable to complete all sections to their satisfaction in the version that opened in theaters on January 26.
