The Nasinu City Council will conduct a forensic audit to address serious issues of financial mismanagement by the previous administration.

Executive chairman Felix Magnus said the audit would examine financial statements from 2018 to 2020.

He says this was ordered following reports by the Auditor General which raised serious red flags regarding the misuse of council funds.

Magnus reaffirms the board’s commitment to accountability and stewardship.

“The misappropriation of millions of people has jeopardized essential services and the people of Nasinu have suffered. This audit will reveal the full extent of these problems and we will take the necessary actions to ensure this never happens again.”

The forensic audit, supported by the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Finance, will focus on cash control, payroll, asset management, project oversight and regulatory compliance to build a strong foundation for financial integrity in future operations.

Magnus says their goal is to finally have an unqualified opinion on Nasinu’s stories, and they are working tirelessly to achieve this goal.

He adds that any cases of mismanagement will be referred for further investigation by the relevant authorities, including the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.
