The Wolves shook off a slow start and used a fourth-quarter surge to beat the Bulls.

Julius Randle made his way into the paint and out of the play, giving the Timberwolves their first lead since the first quarter.

Anthony Edwards hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Minnesota a 113-106 lead with 5 minutes, 59 seconds to play. The Wolves were able to cruise to a 135-119 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night at the United Center in Chicago, shaking off a tough defensive start in the process. Minnesota snapped a three-game loss to the Bulls.

As the fourth quarter continued, Rudy Gobert decisively threw the ball, fouled and made a free throw. Edwards had a layup in transition. And Jaden McDaniels, who struggled early in the season, made a 3. After trailing by as many as 12 points to start the season, the Wolves found themselves with an 11-point lead in the final minutes.

McDaniels has shaken off the rust that plagued him through the first seven games of the season. He hit a 3 in the game’s first points and finished with 19 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, Gobert continued to make an impact offensively. Mike Conley found him for a lob, Gobert was active offensively, and after his emphatic dunk and free throw put them up by nine, he made a layup and drew another foul later in the fourth, making the next free throw and putting the ball away on target. The Wolves won 126–112. Gobert finished with 21 points and nine boards.

Edwards continued to do what Edwards did. He hit five threes, including a dagger that put the Wolves (5-3) up 131-114 with 1 minute, 48 seconds to play and finished with 33 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Randle had 22 and 10.

In the fourth quarter, the shaky start seemed like a distant memory. The Bulls (3-6) got off to a strong start, making 6 of 8 3-point attempts in the first quarter. They jumped out to a lead of as many as 12 points and led 65-56 at halftime.

Nikola Vucevic was the main reason for this. The Wolves lost sight of him at times inside the 3-point arc, and he hit three shots from deep. Vucevic scored a team-high 25 points. Coby White hit four threes and finished with 24 and eight assists.

But by the end of the third quarter, the Wolves were able to cut their deficit to five. That continued to decline in the fourth until Randle gave the green light and a pair of threes from Edwards. Minnesota made an early run and won in a landslide.
