Despite losing nationwide, Vice President Kamala Harris won New Jersey in Tuesday’s election, the ninth straight election in which the state voted for the Democratic candidate.

But Harris did not receive majority support in every countyand Republican President-elect Donald Trump received support in 12 of the state’s 21 counties. (See which candidate your district voted for in the map below).

Mercer County was the bluest in the state, giving Harris a 33 percent lead over Trump. Ocean County was the reddest, with Trump’s lead of 36 percent. Seven counties that voted for Trump also supported him in the 2020 and 2016 elections. But five counties switched their support from Democrats in 2020 to Trump in 2024. Between 2020 and 2024, no party switched from Republicans to Democrats.
