2 years later, God of War Ragnarok players on PS5 and PS4 finally have a solution to the game’s most annoying “feature” as it gets updated for PS5 Pro.

God of War Ragnarok fans on PlayStation rejoice: PS4 And PS5 versions of the game are finally getting an update that adds the ability to reduce the frequency with which your teammates will give you hints when solving puzzles.

Developer Sony Santa Monica announced the news in a tweet yesterday, November 7, 2024. When the game launched, it was met with massive criticism and praise from fans, but one feature, many people agreed it was annoying was how often Kratos’ companions would give him unsolicited clues when solving puzzles.

Kratos was never all muscle and no brains. Puzzles have been an integral part of the God of War series since the beginning, back in Greece, when the Spartan had no companions to give him advice. His fighting style may have changed, but he is still a smart man. If anything, he only became wiser with age.

PC players now have this option back in September, in front of PS5 players. Most PC and console games tend to make changes to the PC first, so this isn’t anything unusual, but it’s nice to see the PlayStation versions now getting parity.

While this is definitely my favorite part of the update, it’s not the only feature included. New audio descriptions make the game’s cinematography more accessible. However, this feature does not address the broader gameplay.

There are also PS5 Pro improvements for those who have already purchased. You will be able to play with high quality images and maintain a smooth 60 frames per second. If 60 isn’t enough for you, there’s also a high frame rate mode for those with variable refresh rate monitors. However, performance mode will also see a boost patch notes don’t explain what exactly this entails.
