SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Minnesota Duluth forward Morgan Eckerle and defenseman Kayleigh Tomzak recorded their first goals of the season for the Bulldogs in a 2-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchup against Sioux Falls on Friday at at Bob Young Field.

Eckerle put the Bulldogs on the board in the 38th minute with an assist from Jessica Eischens. Before Aishen’s scoring, UMD had been held scoreless in the first half of every game since a 1-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston on Sept. 29.

However, the one-goal lead did not last until half-time as Alivia Tindall equalized for the Pumas one apiece in the 44th minute.

In the second half, Tomzak gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead again in the 66th minute with the first goal of her collegiate career. Just when it looked like UMD was going to fight for the win, the Cougars scored the game-tying goal in the 86th minute from Hannah Welch.

UMD goalie Casey Chavez finished with five saves and USF’s Delaney Daubman had four.

UMD (2-10-2, 2-7-2 NSIC) will travel to Marshall for its next matchup against Southwestern Minnesota State on Sunday, October 27th.
