Ware Junior Senior High School Named Finalist in T-Mobile Million Challenge

WAIRE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Ware Junior High School has been named a finalist in T-Mobile’s “Friday Night 5g Lights” competition.

Grand prize? Major 5G upgrade at school football field.

T-Mobile helped celebrate this achievement with the software community on Friday night, and we were on site to find out the details.

“I think this will be a great opportunity for our community to break new ground and come together and create something great again,” said Ware fan Jenna Tucker.

T-Mobile hosted a game Friday night to honor the school that was one of the top 16 finalists in the carrier competition.

“To be here today at one of the top 16 schools in the country is just amazing,” Ware athletic director Thomas Shamgochian told us.

At halftime, T-Mobile presented the school with a check for $25,000 for finishing in the top 16.

“For the city of Ware, this is the place to be on a Friday night. This is the best game in town and the best show in town,” said Shamgochian.

If the school wins the overall competition, they will take home the $2 million grand prize.

“I would be thrilled, I think it would be a great improvement for our community, I think our fields are a staple of the community,” Shamgochian shared.

Others told us why they think the product should take home the top prize.

“These kids deserve it, they work so hard and they have something to show for all their hard work, and just to be recognized for it would be amazing,” cheerleading coach and teacher Caitlin Trzpit told us.
