Our guilt in Israel’s war crimes is undeniable.

Our guilt in Israel’s war crimes is undeniable.

Over the past year, Israel has destabilized the Middle East and driven millions of people into poverty in the process. Their near-total destruction of Gaza was largely facilitated by American weaponry, with almost complete support from Congress and virtually no intervention from President Biden and his administration, other than the occasional clearing of the throat.

Members of the Administration and Congress who approved military aid to Israel can reasonably be classified as war criminals for violating the Leahy Act, the Arms Export Control Act, and the Foreign Assistance Act.

Among the culprits is Rep. Jared Golden, who $374,841 taken from pro-Israel PACs in the current election cycle. His voting history is entirely consistent with the views of the vast majority of Republican House members who believe that behind every Palestinian-American there is a Hamas militant.

It was in the same vein that Vice President Harris denied the Palestinian-American community the opportunity to speak at the Democratic National Convention and has since, with pitiful election-year calculations, made no effort to engage Arab American voters and those other Americans which never condones the sending of weapons to a country that commits war crimes.

It is clear that as long as the Israeli war machine feeds on the lives of Palestinians—many of whom are members of Palestinian-American families—American political leaders will continue to blindly accept their explanations. What is also crystal clear to this unregistered voter is that the version of democracy marked with such an obscene asterisk is no longer acceptable.
