A-list celebrities to compete in the Earthshot Prize in Cape Town

Some of the world’s most influential artists, athletes, musicians and human rights activists will join the Earthshot Prize in Cape Town this November to highlight inspiring green solutions to restore and revitalize the planet.

Earthshot Week will take place from November 4th to 7th. 15 finalists for this year’s Earthshot Prize from around the world and highlight the growth of inspiring climate innovation on the African continent.

The week will culminate with the annual Earthshot Prize ceremony on November 6, where each of the five 2024 Earthshot Prize finalists will win £1 million award to help expand their impact and support efforts to accelerate the scaling of their solutions.

Actor, humanitarian and global ambassador for Earthshot Nomzamo Mbatha will become the official organizer of Earthshot Week.

She will be joined by another Earthshot Global ambassador, an Australian conservationist and wildlife photographer. Robert Irwin through a series of thought leadership events and high-level dialogues, connecting current and former Earthshot Prize finalists with influential environmentalists who can support and accelerate their ambitious journey.

The fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards will be hosted by Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winners. Billy Porter and award-winning television personality Bonang Matheba.

The evening will feature extraordinary storytelling and musical performances to celebrate the work of global environmental innovators and highlight creativity and innovation in African countries.

In addition to the stories of the Earthshot Prize finalists and winners, the broadcast will feature special performances and performances by prominent music artists and celebrities from East, West, North, Southern and Southern Africa, as well as a host of international stars. including Grammy-nominated artist and producer Davidoaward-winning, internationally renowned artist Diamond PlatnumzTony Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Lebo M, with the support of the internationally recognized Ndlovu Youth Choir, and international headliner, DJ and producer Uncle Waffles.

Supermodel and TV presenter Heidi Klumactor and activist Nina Dobrevartist and actor with many children Tobe Nwigwe, supermodel and beauty entrepreneur Winnie Harlow will join the broadcast to announce the five winners in each Earthshot category that align with the critical environmental goals we need to achieve during this decade.

The five “visions” are: “Protect and restore nature,” “Clean our air,” “Rejuvenate our oceans,” “Build a zero-waste world,” and “Fix our climate.”

Reaching millions of viewers, the Earthshot Prize Awards will be broadcast in 50 markets across the African continent.

A special green carpet pre-show hosted by a media personality. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and rapper and TV presenter Muzli The Prize will also be broadcast live worldwide on The Earthshot Prize YouTube channel.

Founded by Prince William in 2020, the Earthshot Prize has become a powerful global search engine for the best environmental solutions and a platform for catalyzing critical investment and resources for those solutions.

Since 2020, sixty environmental solutions have been recognized as finalists and award winners, and over 2,500 solutions have been submitted to Earthshot through our network of over 400 official nominees.

The award has also helped secure over £75 million in direct and in-kind support for these solutions to further enhance our ability to attract investment and support new solutions.

Both finalists and winners receive dedicated mentorship, resources, and technical support to help accelerate the development of their solution over the course of the year-long Earthshot Prize fellowship program.

The program includes access to the Prize’s powerful network of influential businesses, investors and climate experts, including the Earthshot Prize Global Alliance of Partners, which includes some of the world’s largest businesses, donors, investors and environmental organizations committed to combating climate change.
