‘Done’… Jamie Carragher spots big mistake one Arsenal star has made two games in a row

After twice leading the match, Arsenal fans could be forgiven for feeling a little disappointed after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta The team was great in the first half, but the injury Arsenal Defense chief Gabriel Magalhães appears to have been the turning point in the decline in performance.

As the game progressed, Arsenal’s squad became increasingly fatigued, as did their attacking ability.

It felt like a big ask for the Gunners to defend against Mohamed Salah and others under pressure for much of the second half, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be.

Far from the worst result in the world, Arsenal appeared to be in the lead in a turbulent first half.

Jamie Carragher spotted Kai Havertz’s mistake in the 2-2 win over Liverpool

At the same time, speaking during Sky Sports’ halftime coverage, Jamie Carragher I noticed an error that Kai Havertz during Virgil van Dijk’s equalizing goal to make it 1-1.

Speaking alongside Theo Walcott, Carragher thought Havertz “did it well” at the near post to defend a corner, something Nicolas Jover would surely consider.

Carragher said: “Havertz scores at the near post like he did last week at Bournemouth and Liverpool tried that set-piece very early when Trent Alexander-Arnold converted a free-kick in the first minute.

“Luis Diaz intercepts Havertz and that’s obviously the plan and Virgil van Dijk just slots it into an empty net.

“Havertz usually does a brilliant job at the near post for Arsenal, but for two weeks in a row he has retired.”

Walcott added: “I want to see a message from Martinelli so he knows the player is coming. I would say take a little responsibility and let him know your player is coming.”

Gabriel Magalhães suffered a serious knee injury

Of course, Arsenal weren’t as effective at their own set pieces when Gabriel went off the field with injury.

The Gunners have already lost the threat of William Saliba due to his suspension, even if Mikel Merino looked dangerous in the air.

Arsenal fans were upset about Gabriel’s injurywith some already fearing what his left knee injury could mean for their title aspirations.

While Havertz’s defense may have cost Arsenal dearly in defending their corners, fans will be far more concerned by the news of Gabriel’s injury.

A player Arteta simply cannot afford to lose.
